集歌唱(chang)外貌于一身的(de)The Supremes，50年代中(zhong)期(qi)成軍之初(chu)，原名(ming)為Primettes，成員(yuan)包含Diana Ross、Mary Wilson、Florence Ballard及(ji)Barbara Martin，60年在Lupine唱(chang)片發行一張單曲(qu)(qu)后，被Motown創始人Berry Gordy招攬(lan)旗下。剛開始，她(ta)們只是合音天使，后來(lai)更換(huan)團(tuan)名(ming)成The Supremes，才獨立(li)出來(lai)錄(lu)制專輯(ji)，并套換(huan)時尚亮眼(yan)裝(zhuang)扮，將熱(re)情、歡愉的(de)獨特魅力展現(xian)在活潑流暢的(de)曲(qu)(qu)目中(zhong)，這時Barbara正式離團(tuan)，剩(sheng)下The Supremes三人組合的(de)標準機制，Diana Ross也成為團(tuan)中(zhong)主唱(chang)及(ji)靈魂核心。
1959年(nian)，15歲的Diana Ross與好友Florence Ballard、Mary Wilson以及Betty McGlown組成(cheng)一個組合：The Primes。

1965年，專輯《More Hits by The Supremes》中的兩首歌曲《Stop! In the Name of Love》與《Back in My Arms Again》再度成(cheng)為(wei)全美冠軍單曲。
1965年(nian)，專(zhuan)輯《I Hear a Symphony》中的同名單曲(qu)(qu)《I Hear a Symphony》成為(wei)The Supremes的第6首全美冠軍單曲(qu)(qu)。
1966年，專輯(ji)《The Supremes A' Go-Go》成為The Supremes的第一張全(quan)美冠軍(jun)專輯(ji)，專輯(ji)中(zhong)的單曲《You Can't Hurry Love》成為Supremes的第7首(shou)全(quan)美冠軍(jun)單曲。
1966年，專輯(ji)《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌(ge)曲《You Keep Me Hangin' On》成為(wei)Supremes的第8首全(quan)美冠軍(jun)單曲。
1967年，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中(zhong)的歌曲《Love Is Here and Now You're Gone》成(cheng)為Supremes的第9首全美冠軍單曲。
1967年，精選集《Greatest Hits》登上了英美兩國冠軍寶座，專輯(ji)中(zhong)的歌曲(qu)《The Happening》成為Supremes的第10首全美冠軍單(dan)曲(qu)。
1967年(nian)Motown總(zong)裁Berry Gordy將The Supremes更名(ming)為Diana Ross & the Supremes，并招募新成(cheng)員Cindy Birdsong取代了離隊的Florence Ballard的位置。
1968年，專輯《Love Child》中的(de)同名(ming)單曲再度登頂美(mei)國(guo)公告牌單曲榜，成(cheng)為The Supremes的(de)第(di)11首全美(mei)冠軍(jun)單曲。
1970年，The Supremes的最后(hou)一(yi)首冠(guan)軍歌(ge)曲(qu)《Someday We'll Be Together》宣告了Diana Ross離隊，新成(cheng)員Jean Terrell加入樂隊，隨后(hou)樂隊名才改回The Supremes。
