肉身殿居神光嶺頭(tou),1983年,被國(guo)務院確定為漢(han)族地區佛教全國(guo)重點寺院。
肉身(shen)殿(dian)是安葬(zang)金地(di)藏(zang)(zang)肉身(shen)的(de)地(di)方,亦稱地(di)藏(zang)(zang)塔,而(er)九華山是與(yu)金地(di)藏(zang)(zang),金喬覺的(de)名字(zi)分不開(kai)的(de)。
金(jin)喬(qiao)覺(jue)(jue)(jue)(696-794);系新(xin)羅僧(seng)人,俗稱(cheng)金(jin)地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang),古新(xin)羅國(今朝(chao)鮮半島東(dong)南(nan)部)國王金(jin)氏近族。相(xiang)(xiang)傳其(qi)(qi)人“項(xiang)聳奇骨(gu),軀(qu)長七尺,而(er)力(li)(li)倍百夫”。“心慈而(er)貌惡(e),穎悟(wu)天(tian)然(ran)。”24歲時,削(xue)發為(wei)(wei)僧(seng),攜白犬(quan)“善聽”,從(cong)新(xin)羅國航海(hai)來(lai)(lai)華(hua)。初抵江南(nan),卸舟登(deng)陸,經南(nan)陵(ling)等地(di)(di)(di)上(shang)九華(hua)。相(xiang)(xiang)傳九華(hua)山(shan)原為(wei)(wei)青(qing)陽縣居士閔讓(rang)和屬(shu)地(di)(di)(di)。金(jin)喬(qiao)覺(jue)(jue)(jue)向(xiang)其(qi)(qi)乞一(yi)(yi)袈裟地(di)(di)(di),不意展衣后竟遍覆九峰(feng)(feng)。閔讓(rang)和十(shi)分驚異,由驚而(er)喜,先讓(rang)其(qi)(qi)子拜(bai)師(shi),后自己(ji)亦隨之皈依(yi)。至(zhi)今九華(hua)山(shan)寺(si)殿中地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang)圣像(xiang)左右的隨侍(shi)者(zhe),即為(wei)(wei)閔讓(rang)和父(fu)子。金(jin)喬(qiao)覺(jue)(jue)(jue)來(lai)(lai)山(shan)后,居詮在東(dong)岸峰(feng)(feng)的巖洞里(li)(后人稱(cheng)之為(wei)(wei)“地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang)洞”),巖棲漳汲,過著十(shi)分清苦的禪修(xiu)生(sheng)活。唐(tang)至(zhi)德二年(nian)(757年(nian))山(shan)下(xia)長老諸葛節(jie)等數(shu)人結伴登(deng)山(shan),一(yi)(yi)路(lu)但見(jian)深山(shan)峽谷,荊榛莽莽,寂靜無(wu)人。到得(de)東(dong)崖,見(jian)巖洞內(nei)唯有(you)釋地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang)孑然(ran)一(yi)(yi)身(shen),閉目端坐,旁邊(bian)放一(yi)(yi)折足鼎(ding),鼎(ding)中盛有(you)少數(shu)白米摻雜觀音土煮的剩(sheng)飯,眾長老為(wei)(wei)有(you)如(ru)此(ci)苦修(xiu)之人,而(er)肅然(ran)起敬。于是(shi)共同籌(chou)劃興建禪舍,供養地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang)。不到一(yi)(yi)年(nian)時間,一(yi)(yi)座廟宇建成(cheng),地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang)有(you)了棲身(shen)之地(di)(di)(di)和收留(liu)徒眾常住寺(si)內(nei)的條(tiao)件。其(qi)(qi)大弟子、首(shou)座僧(seng)用瑜,身(shen)體力(li)(li)行,斬(zhan)荊披棘,率(lv)眾墾荒(huang),鑿渠開溝,造水(shui)田,種(zhong)谷物,勞(lao)動(dong)自給,堅持苦修(xiu)。建中二年(nian)(781年(nian))池州(zhou)太守張(zhang)巖,因仰慕地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang),施舍甚厚(hou),并奏請(qing)朝(chao)廷將“化(hua)城:舊額移于該(gai)寺(si)。郡內(nei)官吏豪(hao)族,紛紛以師(shi)禮皈依(yi)地(di)(di)(di)藏(zang),向(xiang)化(hua)城寺(si)捐獻大量財(cai)帛(bo)。金(jin)喬(qiao)覺(jue)(jue)(jue),聲聞遐爾,連新(xin)羅國僧(seng)眾聞說,也相(xiang)(xiang)繼渡(du)海(hai)來(lai)(lai)華(hua)隨侍(shi)。
唐貞元(yuan)十年(nian)(nian)(nian)(794年(nian)(nian)(nian)),金(jin)(jin)喬覺99歲,忽召(zhao)眾(zhong)徒告別,趺跏圓寂。相傳(chuan)其時(shi)“山(shan)(shan)鳴石隕,扣釧嘶(si)嘎,群鳥(niao)哀啼,地(di)(di)(di)出火(huo)光(guang)(guang)”。其肉身(shen)置函中(zhong)經(jing)三年(nian)(nian)(nian),仍“顏色如生,兜羅手軟,羅節有(you)聲,如撼金(jin)(jin)鎖”。眾(zhong)佛(fo)徒根據《大(da)乘大(da)集地(di)(di)(di)藏十輪經(jing)》語:菩薩(sa)(sa)“安忍如大(da)地(di)(di)(di),靜(jing)慮可秘藏”。認定他即地(di)(di)(di)藏菩薩(sa)(sa)示現。建(jian)一(yi)石塔,將肉身(shen)供于石塔中(zhong),尊為金(jin)(jin)地(di)(di)(di)藏,嗣后配以殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)宇(yu)(yu),稱(cheng)(cheng)肉身(shen)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)。從此九華山(shan)(shan)名(ming)聲遠播,逐漸(jian)形成(cheng)與五臺山(shan)(shan)文殊(shu)、峨眉普賢、普陀(tuo)觀音(yin)相并稱(cheng)(cheng)的地(di)(di)(di)藏菩薩(sa)(sa)應化道(dao)場。 明萬歷年(nian)(nian)(nian)間朝廷賜銀重(zhong)(zhong)修(xiu)塔殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian),賜額(e)(e)“護國肉身(shen)寶塔”。清(qing)康熙(xi)二十二年(nian)(nian)(nian)(683年(nian)(nian)(nian))池州喻成(cheng)龍(long)重(zhong)(zhong)修(xiu)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)宇(yu)(yu),正殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)大(da)門朝北,建(jian)有(you)84級臺階(jie)(jie)。咸豐七(qi)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1857年(nian)(nian)(nian))大(da)部分殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)宇(yu)(yu)遭(zao)兵燹。同治初山(shan)(shan)洪(hong)沖倒(dao)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)宇(yu)(yu),繼又重(zhong)(zhong)建(jian)。光(guang)(guang)緒十二年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1886年(nian)(nian)(nian))開(kai)肉身(shen)塔大(da)規模重(zhong)(zhong)修(xiu),移(yi)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)門正南向,門額(e)(e)懸掛“東南第一(yi)山(shan)(shan)”橫(heng)匾。殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)南陡建(jian)8l級臺階(jie)(jie)。1914年(nian)(nian)(nian)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)宇(yu)(yu)重(zhong)(zhong)修(xiu)。1917年(nian)(nian)(nian)黎元(yuan)洪(hong)書贈“地(di)(di)(di)藏大(da)愿”匾額(e)(e)。1944-1946年(nian)(nian)(nian)住持(chi)僧化雨。1947-1949年(nian)(nian)(nian)住持(chi)僧寶嚴。
1955年(nian)和1981年(nian)又兩次重修。該寺殿宇宏偉(wei),是塔(ta)殿式(shi)建(jian)筑,上蓋鐵瓦,四角有(you)(you)宮殿式(shi)翹檐。殿內漢白玉輔地(di),塔(ta)基上建(jian)有(you)(you)七(qi)層八方木塔(ta),每層木塔(ta)有(you)(you)佛(fo)龕供地(di)藏菩薩佛(fo)像。全(quan)寺建(jian)筑面積705平方米。為(wei)安(an)徽省重點文物保護(hu)單(dan)位(wei),全(quan)國漢族地(di)區佛(fo)教(jiao)重點寺院。
肉身殿(dian)是典(dian)型的(de)宮(gong)殿(dian)式建(jian)筑(zhu),座落(luo)于九華山(shan)街西神光(guang)嶺頭,周圍(wei)古(gu)木參天,濃蔭蔽空。殿(dian)宇高15米,山(shan)門(men)西南(nan)(nan),紅墻森嚴,巍峨雄壯(zhuang)。入殿(dian)須登八(ba)十一(yi)(yi)級臺階。站在臺階之(zhi)下,舉引仰望,可見南(nan)(nan)門(men)廳上方(fang)有兩塊橫額(e)。上額(e)書(shu)“肉身寶殿(dian)”四字(zi),楷書(shu),豎匾四周鑲飾(shi)立(li)體花邊,無署(shu)(shu)款;下額(e)書(shu)“東(dong)南(nan)(nan)第一(yi)(yi)山(shan)”五字(zi),行(xing)書(shu),民國八(ba)年(nian)(1919年(nian))閏(run)七月青陽人施(shi)玉(yu)藻題(ti)。上署(shu)(shu)“浙江(jiang)慈裕縣信士(shi)董東(dong)海、董東(dong)福久(jiu)感地藏(zang)王威靈(ling),以助夙愿。”
拾級(ji)而(er)上,兩旁有鐵索欄桿防護(hu),欄桿外沿山坡砌成(cheng)七層梯形花圃,培植著(zhu)黃楊、丹桂、竹、菊(ju)等四時花卉(hui)。其東(dong)側(ce)有明刻松枝化石(shi)碑《地藏圣跡碑記》,為(wei)明萬歷年間劉光(guang)復所撰寫(xie)。
石(shi)內松枝(zhi)干大如銅錢,樹(shu)皮、紋理清晰(xi)可辨(bian)。與(yu)塔基相平處橫一巨石(shi)。似人工洞頂,南面橫刻著“磐石(shi)常安(an)”四字(zi),此(ci)乃祝愿塔殿永(yong)久堅固(gu)之愿;北面刻著“神光(guang)異彩”四字(zi),為記神光(guang)嶺地(di)名由來和地(di)藏用語(yu)。長條石(shi)兩旁各置石(shi)獅(shi)一只,高、長、寬(kuan)均(jun)為137、16、47厘(li)米,底(di)座高、長、寬(kuan)均(jun)為36、69、46厘(li)米。雕(diao)刻于(yu)清光(guang)緒年間。
上(shang)(shang)行十(shi)余步,至殿前,四周回廊上(shang)(shang)方(fang)雕(diao)棟畫梁,以(yi)仙(xian)鶴(he)、糜(mi)鹿、牡丹等(deng)珍禽異(yi)卉雕(diao)飾,鮮艷奪目(mu)。立(li)有石(shi)柱(zhu)20根。南(nan)北檐下(xia)石(shi)柱(zhu)上(shang)(shang)均刻有對聯,北邊石(shi)刻是(shi):“誓度群生離苦趣,愿放慈光(guang)(guang)轉法輪(lun)”。南(nan)邊兩聯,一曰:“福被人物(wu)無窮盡,慧(hui)同日月常瞻(zhan)依”;又一聯曰:“心同佛定香火直,目(mu)極天高(gao)海月升”。兩聯的首字(zi)(zi),連讀是(shi)“心目(mu)福慧(hui)”,表示僧尼(ni)心目(mu)中依靠地(di)(di)藏、修到“福慧(hui)”二(er)字(zi)(zi)。“慧(hui)”即覺悟成佛,“福”即是(shi)佛寺興旺發達(da)。 殿宇(yu)面闊3間,進深16米(mi),地(di)(di)平鋪漢白(bai)玉石(shi)。中央為1.8米(mi)高(gao)的漢白(bai)玉塔基(ji),上(shang)(shang)矗(chu)七層八(ba)方(fang)木(mu)質寶塔一座,高(gao)17米(mi)。塔的每(mei)層八(ba)面背有佛龕,每(mei)龕均供(gong)奉金(jin)地(di)(di)藏金(jin)色坐像,供(gong)56尊,大小不一,以(yi)漆芋合塑造于(yu)清光(guang)(guang)緒十(shi)二(er)年(1886年)。
塔基四角(jiao)有回柱頂梁。塔內是(shi)(shi)地藏(zang)(zang)肉(rou)身(shen)(shen)所(suo)在(zai)的(de)3級石塔。南北(bei)前后均供奉地藏(zang)(zang)像。木塔東(dong)西(xi)兩(liang)仍(reng)分塑十殿(dian)閻(yan)羅參拜(bai)地藏(zang)(zang)站(zhan)像,金(jin)(jin)碧輝煌。肉(rou)身(shen)(shen)殿(dian)內有塔,構造罕見(jian)。塔前懸著鏤空(kong)八(ba)角(jiao)琉璃燈(deng),不(bu)分晝夜,終年(nian)燈(deng)火長明。古(gu)人(ren)吟(yin)詠此處(chu):“神(shen)塔輝千古(gu),真身(shen)(shen)鎮佛(fo)門(men)”;“壯(zhuang)嚴寶相黃金(jin)(jin)塔,洗(xi)拂珠(zhu)光(guang)(guang)白(bai)玉(yu)梯”。 塔北(bei)門(men)廊下,有黑底(di)、金(jin)(jin)字的(de)小篆橫匾(bian),寫的(de)是(shi)(shi)地藏(zang)(zang)誓言:“眾(zhong)生(sheng)(sheng)度盡(jin),方證菩提;地獄(yu)不(bu)空(kong),誓不(bu)成佛(fo)”,為北(bei)洋軍(jun)閥政(zheng)府總(zong)統(tong)黎元(yuan)洪(hong)所(suo)書。門(men)前便是(shi)(shi)“布金(jin)(jin)勝(sheng)利??有一(yi)花圃,奇(qi)葩異卉,與臺(tai)下嘉木爭榮,群鳥高(gao)(gao)歌(ge),與風鈴(ling)、鐘鼓(gu)諧(xie)鳴。憑欄(lan)遠眺(tiao),山(shan)外長江如(ru)練(lian),點點巨輪(lun)、風帆隱約可見(jian)。東(dong)望(wang)群蜂(feng)(feng)如(ru)屏,俯瞰九華化城,被林木所(suo)遮;上(shang)山(shan)古(gu)道(dao)旁的(de)香(xiang)爐石、洗(xi)手(shou)亭也都隱于深山(shan)叢林之(zhi)中(zhong)。晨曦中(zhong),臺(tai)下云層(ceng)如(ru)海,稱為“云輔海”勝(sheng)景(jing)。多(duo)雨(yu)季(ji)節,低云布雨(yu),云層(ceng)含有細微水珠(zhu),在(zai)日(ri)光(guang)(guang)照耀下,銀光(guang)(guang)閃閃,又為“銀鋪海”奇(qi)觀(guan)。宋隱士(shi)羅少微在(zai)此賦(fu)詩道(dao):“還嶺蜂(feng)(feng)頭霽(ji)色清,知微曾此學無生(sheng)(sheng)。鳥從(cong)青壁(bi)屏邊過,人(ren)在(zai)白(bai)云天際行(xing)。一(yi)片睛霞迎曉(xiao)日(ri),萬年(nian)松(song)檜起秋聲。個(ge)中(zhong)妙景(jing)真奇(qi)絕,寶塔玲(ling)成最得名。”盛贊此地所(suo)能(neng)看(kan)到(dao)的(de)景(jing)勝(sheng)。 在(zai)塔北(bei)門(men)外有個(ge)半月(yue)形(xing)瑤臺(tai),臺(tai)上(shang)鑄(zhu)有三(san)座大(da)鼎。其(qi)一(yi),置肉(rou)身(shen)(shen)殿(dian)北(bei)拜(bai)臺(tai)東(dong)側,高(gao)(gao)120厘(li)米(mi)(mi),口徑(jing)109厘(li)米(mi)(mi);其(qi)二,置肉(rou)寶殿(dian)北(bei)拜(bai)臺(tai)中(zhong),高(gao)(gao)120厘(li)米(mi)(mi),口徑(jing)109厘(li)米(mi)(mi);其(qi)三(san),置肉(rou)身(shen)(shen)殿(dian)北(bei)拜(bai)臺(tai)西(xi)側,高(gao)(gao)120厘(li)米(mi)(mi),口徑(jing)109厘(li)米(mi)(mi),此處(chu)比殿(dian)南正門(men)前開闊得多(duo),香(xiang)客多(duo)到(dao)此燒香(xiang)拜(bai)佛(fo)。
殿(dian)前的(de)東西(xi)廂(xiang)房,底層(ceng)均有房間(jian)。入(ru)內如平步(bu)登樓。東廂(xiang)數間(jian),為客(ke)堂和(he)僧人(ren)(ren)(ren)寮(liao)房。西(xi)邊數間(jian),原(yuan)為“佛教(jiao)文物(wu)陳(chen)列室(shi)”。 佛經(jing)記載,夏(xia)歷(li)七(qi)月(yue)三十(shi)(shi)日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri)(月(yue)小二十(shi)(shi)九(jiu)日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri))為地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩圣誕日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri),傳說也(ye)(ye)為金地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)成(cheng)道日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri)。歷(li)年(nian),九(jiu)華(hua)山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)僧侶都要(yao)在肉(rou)(rou)(rou)身殿(dian)舉行重大活(huo)動(dong),稱“地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”,誦(song)《地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩本愿經(jing)》,守(shou)地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)肉(rou)(rou)(rou)身塔。法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)一般歷(li)時七(qi)天(夏(xia)歷(li)七(qi)月(yue)三十(shi)(shi)至(zhi)八月(yue)初六日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri)),圓滿之(zhi)日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri)設齋(zhai)供眾,廣結(jie)良緣(yuan)。法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)期間(jian),民間(jian)有“百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)(團)”等(deng)朝山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)進(jin)香(xiang)(xiang)。百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)(團)是外(wai)地(di)(di)香(xiang)(xiang)客(ke)為朝拜(bai)地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩道場而(er)自動(dong)組織起來的(de)一種(zhong)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)(團),虔心齋(zhai)食,然后擔(dan)著香(xiang)(xiang)擔(dan),舉旗敲鑼魚貫而(er)行,結(jie)體入(ru)山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan),凡(fan)人(ren)(ren)(ren)數滿百(bai)(bai)人(ren)(ren)(ren)即(ji)可(ke)組一會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui),稱“百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”。百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)設香(xiang)(xiang)首(shou)和(he)副香(xiang)(xiang)首(shou)。朝山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)途中香(xiang)(xiang)首(shou)口誦(song)“南無幽(you)冥(ming)教(jiao)主(zhu)本尊赦罪地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)王菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩”,余(yu)眾接誦(song)“阿彌陀(tuo)佛”。 凡(fan)朝山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)之(zhi)眾均身著灰布青褲或(huo)(huo)圍一黃色胸兜,上(shang)印“進(jin)山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)朝香(xiang)(xiang)”四字,一路上(shang)香(xiang)(xiang)客(ke)還給窮苦殘疾(ji)人(ren)(ren)(ren)施舍錢物(wu)。他們白日(ri)(ri)(ri)(ri)徒步(bu)登山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan),沿途遇寺廟即(ji)燒香(xiang)(xiang)拜(bai)佛,入(ru)夜(ye)后除投(tou)宿外(wai),都聚向肉(rou)(rou)(rou)身寶(bao)殿(dian)守(shou)地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)塔,攜衣巾(jin)請蓋“地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)利生寶(bao)印”。每(mei)逢地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩誕朝,僧眾及香(xiang)(xiang)客(ke)于肉(rou)(rou)(rou)身塔誦(song)經(jing)拜(bai)菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩通霄達旦,“常見僧尼和(he)信(xin)士一步(bu)一步(bu)跪拜(bai)塔不(bu)止,求其超度亡(wang)靈(ling),赦免罪孽,消災延壽”。百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)人(ren)(ren)(ren)數要(yao)求不(bu)很嚴(yan)格,二、三十(shi)(shi)人(ren)(ren)(ren)朝拜(bai)九(jiu)華(hua)也(ye)(ye)可(ke)稱“百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”或(huo)(huo)“小百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”,逾二百(bai)(bai)人(ren)(ren)(ren)或(huo)(huo)近二百(bai)(bai)人(ren)(ren)(ren)可(ke)稱“雙百(bai)(bai)子(zi)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”。與此(ci)相應,各地(di)(di)還有類似會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)(團)朝山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)進(jin)香(xiang)(xiang),如“萬勝(sheng)老會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”、“香(xiang)(xiang)山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)勝(sheng)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”、“同(tong)人(ren)(ren)(ren)老會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”等(deng)。1978年(nian)以來,九(jiu)華(hua)山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)佛教(jiao)協會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)每(mei)年(nian)都舉行“地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”或(huo)(huo)“祈禱世界和(he)平法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”,懸掛“南無大愿地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)王菩(pu)(pu)(pu)薩法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)”飄幡(fan)。來山(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)(shan)參加地(di)(di)藏(zang)(zang)法(fa)(fa)(fa)會(hui)(hui)(hui)(hui)的(de)港澳同(tong)胞、海外(wai)僑胞、四眾弟子(zi)及十(shi)(shi)方善(shan)男信(xin)女(nv),逐(zhu)年(nian)增多,同(tong)時也(ye)(ye)吸引了眾多游客(ke)。
